Four future Pro Football Hall of Famers selected in the first five picks and five overall in the first round … no doubt the 1989 NFL Draft has to be considered the greatest ever.
What say you?
This week, I’m taking a break from writing to present the first installment of the 80s/90s NFL Rewind podcast. I dive into the ‘89 Draft and talk about its many highs (and a few lows) on this debut episode. Take a trip back in the day when the draft lasted 12 ROUNDS! From top to bottom, this draft yielded some pretty solid NFL players. Sure, only a handful ended up being enshrined in Canton, but many went on to play well over 100 games and make a lasting impact in a league where staying on the field and earning starting jobs can be incredibly competitive.
I would love to hear your thoughts! Leave a message in the comments below or drop me an email: kdamask@live.com.
I’ll be back next week with another article, but for now, let’s talk the ‘89 Draft.
